ShiftAlong Privacy Policy

ShiftAlong is developed and published by RootsLanding LLC (“RootsLanding,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

We designed ShiftAlong to help hourly workers make progress through a shift by showing estimated gross earnings, upcoming planned breaks and shift milestones, and optional personal motivation.

Our privacy approach is simple: your shift is your business.

ShiftAlong is designed to operate locally on your device. ShiftAlong does not require you to create an account or provide RootsLanding LLC with your name, email address, phone number, employer, location, or other personal information in order to use the app.

1. Information You Enter Into ShiftAlong

To provide its functionality, ShiftAlong allows you to enter or generate information such as:

This information is used by ShiftAlong to calculate and display estimated gross earnings, elapsed work time, break and shift information, overtime estimates, reminders, and other features you request.

ShiftAlong stores this information locally on your device. RootsLanding LLC does not receive this information through ShiftAlong.

Information that remains exclusively on a user's device and is not transmitted off the device is generally not considered “collected” for purposes of Google Play's Data Safety disclosures.

2. Information We Collect

ShiftAlong is designed so that RootsLanding LLC does not collect personal or sensitive user data through the ShiftAlong app.

ShiftAlong does not require or collect through the app:

ShiftAlong does not currently provide a ShiftAlong cloud account or require a user login.

3. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

ShiftAlong does not use user information for targeted advertising.

ShiftAlong does not contain advertising supplied by RootsLanding LLC or sell advertising space based on your ShiftAlong activity.

ShiftAlong is not designed to send your shift activity, hourly rate, earnings estimates, break activity, overtime selections, or personal motivational text to RootsLanding LLC for analytics or tracking.

We do not sell or rent ShiftAlong user data to advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.

4. Location

ShiftAlong does not require your device's location to calculate your shift or estimated earnings.

ShiftAlong does not use GPS or other device-location information to clock you in or out, monitor where you work, verify that you are at a workplace, or track your movements.

5. Local Notifications

ShiftAlong may use your device's notification system to provide functionality you request or reasonably expect from the app, such as reminding you when a planned shift may have ended while ShiftAlong still considers the shift active.

Notification scheduling and related state are used to provide ShiftAlong functionality.

ShiftAlong does not use notifications for advertising or behavioral tracking.

Your device operating system may require you to grant notification permission. You can control notification permissions through your device settings.

6. Information Sharing

Because ShiftAlong is designed not to transmit your shift information or other locally stored ShiftAlong content to RootsLanding LLC, RootsLanding LLC does not share that locally stored information with advertisers, data brokers, employers, payroll companies, or other third parties.

ShiftAlong does not send your shift history or earnings estimates to your employer.

ShiftAlong does not integrate with an employer's timekeeping or payroll system unless a future version expressly introduces such functionality and this Privacy Policy is updated accordingly.

7. Device and Platform Services

ShiftAlong operates on platforms and devices provided by third parties, such as Android devices and Google Play.

Those platforms may independently process information in connection with downloading, installing, updating, securing, backing up, or operating applications. Information processed independently by Google, your device manufacturer, your mobile carrier, or another platform provider is governed by that provider's policies and practices rather than by RootsLanding LLC's collection through ShiftAlong.

RootsLanding LLC does not control the independent data practices of those services.

8. Data Storage and Security

ShiftAlong's shift information and application settings are designed to be stored locally on your device.

We design ShiftAlong to minimize data collection and transmission. One of our primary privacy safeguards is therefore data minimization: information that RootsLanding LLC does not receive cannot be used by us for advertising, profiling, or unrelated purposes.

No software or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining appropriate security for your device, including its screen lock, operating-system security, backups, and access by other people.

9. Data Retention

ShiftAlong retains locally stored information as necessary to provide the app's local functionality.

RootsLanding LLC does not maintain a server-side ShiftAlong account containing your shift information because ShiftAlong does not currently provide such an account.

Because RootsLanding LLC does not receive your locally stored ShiftAlong data, we generally cannot retrieve, inspect, restore, or delete that local data remotely.

10. Deleting ShiftAlong Data

You can remove locally stored ShiftAlong data through the controls provided by your device, including clearing ShiftAlong's application data or uninstalling ShiftAlong.

Depending on your device, operating-system settings, or independently configured backup services, copies may exist in device or platform backups outside ShiftAlong's direct control. Those copies are governed by the applicable device or backup provider.

Because ShiftAlong does not currently provide a ShiftAlong user account, there is no ShiftAlong online account that you need to request RootsLanding LLC to delete.

Google Play's special account-deletion requirements apply to apps that permit users to create accounts; ShiftAlong currently does not offer account creation.

11. Your Personal Motivational Content

ShiftAlong may allow you to enter optional personal text, currently referred to within the product as a Positive Mental Stimulus, to remind yourself what you are looking forward to or what may make you smile during your shift.

You control what you enter.

We recommend that you not enter highly sensitive information that you would not want another person with access to your device to see.

This content is designed to remain locally stored with ShiftAlong rather than being transmitted to RootsLanding LLC.

12. Earnings and Work Information

ShiftAlong provides estimates based on information you enter and actions you record.

ShiftAlong is not an employer timekeeping system, payroll processor, tax calculator, or authoritative record of wages or overtime owed.

Your locally entered hourly rate, work times, break information, overtime selections, and resulting estimated gross earnings are used to provide ShiftAlong's functionality. They are not transmitted to RootsLanding LLC for payroll processing.

13. Children's Privacy

ShiftAlong is designed as a work-shift tool and is not specifically directed to children.

We do not knowingly use ShiftAlong to collect personal information from children.

If we learn that a future ShiftAlong feature has resulted in personal information from a child being transmitted to RootsLanding LLC in a manner inconsistent with applicable law or this policy, we will take appropriate steps to address it.

14. Legal Requirements and Safety

Because RootsLanding LLC does not ordinarily possess users' locally stored ShiftAlong shift data, we generally cannot disclose information we do not have.

If RootsLanding LLC receives information directly from a user outside the ShiftAlong app, such as through a support request, we may retain and disclose that information when reasonably necessary to respond to the request, comply with applicable law or legal process, protect our rights or users, prevent fraud or abuse, or address security issues.

Information voluntarily provided to RootsLanding LLC through email, our website, a support service, or another channel may be governed by the privacy terms applicable to that channel in addition to this policy.

15. Future Features

ShiftAlong may change over time.

If we introduce functionality that materially changes how ShiftAlong accesses, collects, uses, stores, or shares user information, we will update this Privacy Policy and make any disclosures or obtain any permissions or consent required by applicable law or platform policy.

We will not treat this Privacy Policy as permission to silently introduce unrelated collection of personal information.

The Google Play Data Safety disclosure will also be maintained to reflect the behavior of versions distributed through Google Play. Google requires developers to keep those disclosures accurate, including the behavior of incorporated SDKs.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to ShiftAlong, applicable law, platform requirements, security practices, or our privacy practices.

When we make changes, we will update the effective date shown at the top of this policy. Material changes will be communicated as appropriate to the nature of the change.
